Here’s an organisation the fat cat bankers would have done well to emulate:

www.kiva.org

Kiva is one of those brilliant ideas the Internet should be about. It’s an organisation that works with microloan foundations to provide small amounts to entrepreneurs in the developing world. The personal touch is what makes it work: a group of individuals lend directly to another individual to help them improve their lives. The default level is exceptionally low and the impact you can make incalculable. I’ve been lending via Kiva for over a year now and it’s one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done. Show those bankers how it should be done and try it for yourself.
